Design intent preserved. Drawings sealed. Permits handled. Install on schedule. CG Signs has been the in-house signage extension of Northeast Florida design teams since 1987.
Signage scope often falls into a gap between the design team and the GC. Specs get value-engineered out, finishes drift from the renderings, and the install date keeps slipping. CG Signs closes that gap. We work directly with the architect of record from schematic design through final inspection — providing buildability feedback on renderings, sealed engineering for permits, in-house fabrication, and our own installation crews.
Because design, engineering, fabrication, and installation all happen under one roof at our Orange Park shop, we're accountable for every link in the chain. There's no out-of-state fabricator to blame, no subcontracted installer to chase. Your design intent makes it from rendering to building face intact.
The earlier we're brought in, the cleaner the outcome. Here's how a typical engagement runs from first call to final install.
We review renderings and material call-outs for buildability, illumination behavior, and code feasibility. Budgetary numbers provided for owner reviews — itemized by sign type so VE conversations are surgical, not blunt.
We produce shop drawings reflecting the architect's intent, coordinate electrical loads with the EE, mounting and substrate details with the SE, and review specifications language so what gets bid matches what gets built.
Sealed structural calcs and drawings via a licensed Florida PE when required. We submit and manage sign permits in Jacksonville, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau, Duval, and surrounding jurisdictions — start to finish.
CNC routing, laser cutting, welding, painting, and assembly — all in our Orange Park shop. Color matching to brand standards, finish samples on request, and full QC photos before crating and transport.
Our own crews — not subs — handle every install. We coordinate directly with the GC's superintendent, follow project safety protocols, and provide pre-install RFIs early to avoid trade conflicts at substantial completion.
Final punch walkthrough, O&M documentation for the building owner, manufacturer warranty registration on LED components, and a single point of contact for any post-install service. We're local; we stand behind the work.
From exterior identity packages to interior wayfinding and custom architectural elements — the full signage scope, executed in-house.
Front-lit and halo-lit channel letters, dimensional logos, raceway and direct-mount installations, fabricated ACM panel signs, and large-scale architectural lettering. All aluminum construction rated for Florida coastal exposure, energy-efficient LED illumination standard.
Custom-fabricated aluminum and steel monument signs, masonry-clad bases, internally illuminated cabinets, pylon and pole signs with engineered foundations. We coordinate civil drawings for sign foundations and review the proposed siting against ROW setbacks and sight-triangle requirements.
Recent example: a custom monument we designed and built for St. Catherine Catholic Church here in Orange Park — brick masonry pilasters and base, an aluminum cabinet with integrated cross detail, and a Daktronics LED display tied into the sign architecture.
We've been a Daktronics dealer since 2007 with 50+ displays installed and serviced locally across Northeast Florida. Daktronics is the only major manufacturer with fully sealed-in-silicone electronics — engineered for Florida humidity and salt air. We handle pixel-pitch selection, brightness and dimming spec, integration with monument or pylon structures, and operator training on the Venus Control Suite.
Custom aluminum canopies and awnings, decorative aluminum brackets, and fabricated dimensional accents are some of our most-requested architectural-element scopes. We fabricate to architect-specified profiles, finish to brand-specific paint colors in our in-house booth, and engineer attachments to the building envelope with sealed structural drawings when required.
We've delivered packages of architectural canopies, awnings, and sculptural HDU elements for hospitality, retail, and multi-tenant developments — notably across Latitude Margaritaville locations and a number of Northeast Florida commercial fit-outs.
Lobby signs, dimensional letters, donor recognition walls, wayfinding packages, ADA-compliant room identification, printed wall and window graphics, and printed fabric panels. We coordinate sign families and typography systems directly from the architect's design package so interior identification reads as part of the building — not an afterthought.
For larger projects we coordinate the full identity package — primary building signs, secondary tenant signs, monument and pylon structures, wayfinding, parking and entry markers, ADA interior, and vehicle identification. One shop drawing set, one fabrication schedule, one install team. Recent multi-component packages include Adamec dealership campuses and multi-tenant retail.
Sign permitting is where most projects go sideways. Setbacks, height limits, total area allowances, illumination restrictions, electronic message center dwell times, and ROW encroachments all vary — sometimes block by block — between the City of Jacksonville, Duval County, Clay County, St. Johns County, Nassau County, and the municipalities within each. We've walked permits through every one of these jurisdictions for 37+ years and know the review staff personally.
When a code question comes up during DD, we can give you a direct answer the same day instead of waiting on a written interpretation. When a sign code variance is needed, we know the path. When a project sits across multiple jurisdictions (a corridor running between Jacksonville and Orange Park, for example), we know which set of rules governs which parcel.
Permitting included in our scope at no upcharge — submitted, tracked, and approved before fabrication begins.

Yes. We frequently work with architects from schematic design through construction documents — providing budgetary numbers, reviewing renderings for buildability, suggesting material and illumination alternatives, and producing concept-level sketches when helpful. Engaging us early typically results in fewer revisions and a more accurate budget at bid.
Yes. We produce shop drawings for every project and engage a licensed Florida structural engineer to provide signed and sealed drawings when required by the jurisdiction or when sign size, height, or wind-load classification calls for it. We coordinate engineering directly so the architect doesn't have to manage that workflow.
We handle permits in-house across the City of Jacksonville, Duval County, Clay County, St. Johns County, Nassau County, Baker County, and Putnam County, plus the municipalities within each. Sign code varies significantly — setbacks, illumination restrictions, height limits, and area allowances differ by jurisdiction and zoning — and we know the local ordinances and the review staff personally. Permitting is included in our scope at no upcharge.
Yes. Our most common architectural-element work is custom aluminum canopies and awnings, decorative aluminum brackets, and dimensional aluminum accents — fabricated to architectural specifications and finished in our paint booth. We also produce HDU sculptural elements, fabricated ACM panels, and custom aluminum components for entrances, drive-throughs, and exterior building accents. CNC routing, laser cutting, welding, and paint-grade finishing are all done in-house.
From signed shop drawings and approved permit to final install, most channel letter and dimensional sign packages run 3–5 weeks. Monument signs with foundations and electrical run 5–8 weeks. LED displays and complex wayfinding packages vary. We coordinate install timing with the GC's construction schedule to avoid trade conflicts and minimize re-work at substantial completion.
Yes. Florida State License #CGCA08677 (Certified General Contractor — Sign Specialty), which allows us to install signage statewide. Full general liability and workers' compensation coverage; we'll provide a COI with any additional insureds your project requires (typical for hospital, institutional, or government work).
