Your Property's First Impression Starts at the Road

A well-designed monument sign does two things: it tells customers they're in the right place, and it communicates your brand's quality before they ever walk through the door. A cheap or poorly built sign sends exactly the wrong message.

We design and build monument signs, pole signs, and pylon signs that are architecturally integrated with your property — using materials, finishes, and proportions that reflect the quality of your business.

  • Custom design to match your property's architecture
  • Masonry, metal, HDU foam, and composite construction
  • Illuminated cabinet faces and LED-lit sign faces
  • Multi-tenant panel systems for office parks and plazas
  • Full permitting service — we handle all city/county approvals

Monument Signs

Ground-level monument signs sit close to the road and are typically constructed with a masonry or fabricated base that anchors the sign visually to the property. They convey permanence and quality — the ideal choice for office buildings, medical facilities, churches, retail centers, and subdivisions.

We build monument signs in masonry, stucco, metal, HDU, and composite materials with illuminated faces, push-through acrylic lettering, or routed panels.

Pole & Pylon Signs

When visibility from a distance or a high-speed road is the priority, pole and pylon signs are the answer. Mounted on single or double steel poles at heights that clear obstructions and vegetation, they're the standard for retail corridors, gas stations, hotels, and shopping centers.

We engineer, fabricate, and install pole and pylon signs to meet local setback and height ordinances while maximizing your visibility from the road.

Cabinet & Box Signs

Internally illuminated cabinet signs — also called box signs or light boxes — are a versatile, cost-effective solution for storefronts and canopy fascias. A welded aluminum frame holds a translucent acrylic face printed with your branding; LED illumination makes it pop both day and night.

Monument Signs with Daktronics LED Integration

A monument sign with an integrated Daktronics LED message center is the highest-impact ground signage you can install — the monument establishes permanence and brand identity, while the LED runs live scheduling, promotions, or community messaging. CG Signs has been a Daktronics dealer for nearly two decades. We engineer the combined cabinet, file a single permit covering both elements, and install everything as one coordinated package — including content-management software setup for your team.

FAQ

Monument signs, answered.

What Jacksonville property owners and developers ask before approving a monument sign project.

How much does a monument sign cost in Jacksonville?

Costs vary widely with size, materials (masonry, stucco, aluminum, HDU), illumination, foundation engineering, and whether an LED message center is integrated. A simple non-illuminated HDU monument typically starts in the mid four figures installed; large illuminated masonry monuments with Daktronics LED displays can run into the five-figure to low-six-figure range. Every CG Signs quote is custom and includes foundation, fabrication, permitting, and installation. Request a free quote →

How long does it take to get a monument sign installed?

Most monument projects in Jacksonville run 8 to 14 weeks from concept approval to installed sign. Design and engineering take 2–3 weeks, permitting through the City of Jacksonville or applicable county takes 3–6 weeks (monuments require more engineering review than wall signs), foundation work and fabrication take 3–4 weeks, and installation takes one to two days depending on size.

What are the setback and height requirements for monument signs in Jacksonville?

Setback, height, and square-footage limits vary by zoning district and property frontage in Jacksonville, Orange Park, Clay County, and St. Johns County. Common ranges are 5–15 ft setbacks from the right-of-way and 6–20 ft maximum height. CG Signs reviews your zoning before design begins and engineers the sign to maximize visibility within the rules your specific property allows.

Can a monument sign include a Daktronics LED message center?

Yes. CG Signs has been a Daktronics dealer since 2007 and routinely integrates Daktronics GS6 and GT6 LED message centers into monument signs for churches, schools, retail centers, and municipal clients across Northeast Florida. We engineer the combined cabinet, run a single permit covering both the monument and the LED display, and install everything as one coordinated package — including the content-management software setup. See our LED display work →

How long do monument signs last in the Florida climate?

A properly built monument sign lasts decades. We fabricate cabinets in marine-grade aluminum with PMS-matched paints rated for Florida UV, build masonry bases with steel reinforcement engineered for hurricane wind loads, and use sealed LED modules with 50,000+ hour ratings. We have monument signs we installed in Jacksonville in the 1990s still in service today.

Can you update tenant panels on a multi-tenant monument or pylon sign?

Yes. Our multi-tenant directory signs are engineered for tenant turnover from day one — individual panels can be removed, refaced, and reinstalled without disturbing the rest of the sign. We provide ongoing service for properties we built originally as well as monument and pylon signs built by other companies.

Do you handle the foundation and underground utility work?

Yes. Most monument signs require a reinforced concrete foundation engineered to support the cabinet weight, hurricane wind loads, and any integrated LED display. CG Signs handles foundation design, permitting, excavation, conduit, and pour as part of the installation. We also coordinate the Florida 811 utility-locate process before any digging.
